| Meaning? |
"TDS" means Total Dissolved
Solids. |
| What does it
measure? |
The meter gives a reading of the total
quantity of dissolved solids or chemicals in a glass of water--whether
that is tap water, well water, bottled water or filtered water. The reading
or measurement that you get from a glass of water is a "total" of the
dissolved chemicals. The meter readings are in "PPM" or "parts per
million" or roughly the equivalent of "milligrams per liter." |
| What does it
detect? |
The meter can detect inorganic contaminants
like copper, aluminum, magnesium, lead, chlorine, etc. In order to
find out what those dissolved chemicals are in that glass of water, the
water has to be sent to a laboratory for analysis. Nearly all water has
those dissolved chemicals in it--some sources of water more than others. |
| Did you Know? |
The "TDS Meter" reads many substances that are in
municipal drinking water even the substances that have not been listed on
the EPA list of contaminants. All experts and scientist do not agree
on the hazardous things that should be taken out of drinking water. For
example, aluminum in drinking water is very strictly restricted in Canada
but in the Unites States, the EPA has placed aluminum only on the
unenforceable (secondary) list of contaminants. |
| Why do you
need a "TDS Meter"? |
Because the BEST Customer is the informed Customer
OUR Customers know because:
- Test your drinking water.
- Never guess, when to change a filter cartridge. Just test the water
and if the "TDS Meter" reading has risen from "000" to "006"
change the filter.
